Your Brief Guide to Gun Stores

Recreation & Sports Blog

Whether you want to learn more about guns, you have some specific questions, or you want to buy a gun, you should go to a gun store. This is going to be a great resource for you in all these situations, as well as many others. When you decide to go to a gun store, you should be aware of some tips and options. Here is information to help you navigate the gun store respectfully, help you to get the most out of your visit, and help educate you on purchasing a gun.

1. Be respectful at the gun store

When you go to the gun store, you will find the staff can be very understanding when it comes to assisting people who are uneducated on proper gun etiquette. They can even help you to learn more about this during your visit. However, you should still try to learn some etiquette on your own beforehand. Here are some things you want to do in a gun store:

  • Check the gun yourself: Always check for yourself to see the gun is unloaded, even though the salesperson likely already did. It's a good habit to have, beginning with the first time you hold a gun. They will be appreciative, not insulted.
  • Point the gun away: When you want to check the sights, never point the gun toward someone. Instead, you should look through the sights while pointing the gun up toward the ceiling or down toward the ground. If you lift it, always do so toward an area where there are no people.
  • Hand the gun back butt-first: When you go to hand the salesperson the gun back, you should have the barrel pointed down toward the ground and hand it to them, so they can grab the butt of the gun.

2. Ask about what the gun store offers

When you go to a gun store, you may be there to become more familiar with guns or even to see about buying a gun. However, you might find that the gun store can be a very good resource for many other reasons as well. You should learn about the various things they offer, so you know how they can help you in the future.

They may have a variety of gun classes to offer that can help you to learn about gun safety in general, as well as gun safety in various situations. They can also have their own shooting range with shooting instruction and special offers, such as special rates if you become a regular member.

3. Get all the help you need when purchasing a gun

When you purchase a gun from the gun store, they can help you find the right one for you. They can also help point you in the right direction of accessories you may want. Another thing they can help with is finding the right gun safe or cabinet for your needs. Also, they can walk you quickly and easily through the paperwork and background check process.

Zip It Up: Zip Line Jumping 101

The very first time I put on the harness for a zip line excursion, it was a life-changing moment. As I took the leap of faith and watched the world pass beneath me, I was awestruck. I knew right away that it wouldn't be the last time. I have spent my free time since then studying different zip line methods and locations to see what other experiences I might be able to enjoy. I created this site to show other zip line enthusiasts, and those curious but not yet experienced, to learn what I have about the options out there. I hope that the information here encourages you to get out there and give it a shot.
